*SOLD OUT* National Improv Championships, part of Singapore Improv Festival

Description

Improv teams battle for glory and tiny trophies

Welcome to the improv arena! Tonight, team sports and theatre meet in an unholy hybrid as four teams compete for points awarded by judges. You - as the audience - are needed to cheer on good scenes and boo the judges like a rowdy episode of Britain’s Got Talent.

Tonight you’ll see a mix of teams from around Singapore battle it out for the tenuous title of being the first National Improv Champions.

The Latecomers vs. Part II vs. KFC vs. a secret random assortment of improvisers who just met*.

About the show format

Theatresports is the brainchild of Keith Johnstone, a key figure in contemporary improv history. He felt that theatre had become pretentious, which is why the average person in the street didn't even consider attending it. To emulate the atmosphere of sporting and boxing matches, much the same audience that Shakespeare once wrote for, he created Theatresports, which rewards the fastest minds and the tightest teamwork.
